Welcome to it Gets To Be Easy Podcast where you're granted permission to live your most healthful and joy-filled life with ease.
Speaker 1:We are your hosts, katie and Shauna, and together we've been cracking the code to creating our own realities with ease, and now we've set out to help you grow confident in this too. Hey friends, welcome back to the show. If you caught our last episode, we have been talking about consciousness about our intentions throughout the day, and when we finished the recording of that episode and asked ourselves what is the next episode going to be, we felt it could be inspiring and empowering for you if we expanded on some clarity and connection tools that we have in our routines or have even come back to, if we've noticed we've fallen off a routine or feeling disconnected to our higher selves. We talked a lot about that in the last episode, about kind of going back to basics of these things, so even some new stuff that we've been exploring. So we're going to kind of dig into these today and, shauna, I know that you're really excited for this conversation, so why don't you kick us off and let's get started?
Speaker 2:Yes. So I'm actually like buzzing all over because there's so many pieces of this that, since we decided to talk about it last week, have like been unfolding in my life this week, and so I think it's really cool. But I am going to go back to my notes a little bit here, where we were coming from, because there were some things that were left over, I think, from last week that I wanted to bring into it, and so, you know, one of the things that we had mentioned a podcast were listening to. One of the things that was in there was really kind of talking about like beliefs being a placeholder for our like deep knowing, and when I started to think about that, it's like how do we feel like we know something right? So even when it like doesn't make sense or there's like fear stories coming in or there's still old patterns and all of that kind of like still stirring, like how do we really know like this is me, like this is coming from me, this gets like really clear and helps us just really have that confidence. Like that's what I'm hearing Some of my coaching that I've been doing lately, the people are just like I just don't feel so confident about that part, and so that's something that I definitely want us to tap into as we think about these like tools, rituals, routines, whatever we want to call them clarity, connection tools.
Speaker 2:But one thing I do want to preface with as we say this when we share these things, it's not from a place of saying like you gotta go do this, because that's not what we're here for. We're showing up to empower you, to maybe help you follow breadcrumbs of something that maybe you maybe been curious about before, but not so sure you know some of those kinds of things. And so I just want to say, if it feels like that's not me, then don't do it. Like, just go and feel inspired to follow the things that do feel like, hey, I'm really kind of curious about that.
Speaker 2:And the whole premise here, the whole intention, is so that you can feel confident and you can feel like you can connect to like who you really are. And you can feel like you can connect to like who you really are. And so, katie I know you're probably going to share in on this Like I think that we talk all the time about how that introspective piece, that like making sure we're still making sure we have that time for ourselves going inward. All of that is like it's really where this comes from. Is really where this comes from?
Speaker 1:Yeah, and when we allude to that in a lot of our episodes. But I think it's this key piece and the theme that we've been talking about this year so far is it's continuing to draw those connections to our deeper knowing and ourselves. And I wrote this down while you were talking. It's like it can feel kind of sticky when you're like pursuing what feels good to you, and sometimes I think the sticky part is this like the unknown of why you're drawn to that, why you feel like you need to do that. And I think a perfect theme of that is this rest conversation we've been having.
Speaker 1:Is we feel drawn to be more introspective by pausing and resting, and those can feel uncomfortable because we're just not used to that practice, and so really what we're drawing on for the listeners to kind of put the pieces together is we're just nudging you to continue to live more consciously, and what we mean by that and I talked about it last episode is I was kind of letting my day drive me and that would be defined as like kind of living unconsciously, just doing whatever happens. And being more intentional is living more consciously, and I can do that by taking time to know myself and my needs more deeply. So there's lots of different ways you we can go about that. But just taking a moment and I love this question I think that Tiffany Peterson she's like what do you need right now, sweetheart? Like how do you take care of yourself? What do you need right now, sweetheart?
Speaker 2:Like, how do you take care of yourself? That is so good yes, I love that too that Tiffany always shares, you know. I think that, yeah, why even do this? Right, and it's exactly what you just said Like let's just stop going through the motions. Like we do want to feel intention. And why do we want it? Because we want to be lit up by the things that we experience in our life, you know.
Speaker 2:And so I think when we don't do it or we're unconsciously going through it, we do experience more of the contrast in a way that we feel, like I said on the last episode, that we are just like stuck in it. It's all we can see is that bad in it or the whatever we don't want in it. Right, and it doesn't mean, when we do this, that we're not still seeing the contrast. It's not a tool to get rid of contrast, but it's one for us to see ourselves, like you said, it's one for us to know ourselves, to use these tools and these experiences and, this time with ourself, to really help us drive how we're experiencing life. Because I think when we're not doing it that way or we're coming from a lower conscious approach, we get really entangled in, like what the conditions are, what the programs are, what you know the fear part of it is bringing into us, and so that's kind of a little bit of the why part of it For me. I just you know there's so many things. Of course we always share. You know what are those right?
Speaker 2:So I've always been really big in like reading. If you're watching this on a video, you'd see all the books behind me. But one of the things that is often the case with me with reading is I get called to a book in some way or another, right, following those breadcrumbs, like I said. But a lot of times, like, there's so many books on my shelves that I haven't read the whole thing, because it's truly just, I have been called to something in that book that is actually really what it's doing. Is not telling me what to do, it's actually calling me to a place where I'm going to sit and I'm going to go into that contemplation inward, and then I'm going to gather up a lot of goodies into my own experience, right, and so reading is one of those things. So if you like to read, that might be one of the tools for you. Journaling Katie we want to talk about journaling. Like how many times have we said that word?
Speaker 1:on the podcast, yes, journaling, and I think it's a good opportunity for us to plug our Patreon because we've gathered all of our journal prompts in one collection. So we'll make sure to link that for our viewers, because I think one of the hurdles of getting there has been, like where do I even start? Like how do I even know what to ask myself or what to reflect on? And so those journal prompts can help you get there, and we talked about it last time. But just maybe even just starting with gratitude, like what are you grateful for today? And so you can keep chasing those things, what you want more of in your life, or things that you recognize are going well and good for you. And I think too, it's you know, in that journaling you're continuing to know yourself and understand and I don't know, jump ahead for us or anything like that. But like getting to the point a little bit, I digress for a second.
Speaker 1:We started the. You know we got on the podcast before we family to stay strong in the Catholic faith and to stay strong in the church, including like how do you get your children to do that? And two main takeaways there and one that I know we'll both love. But he's like time and meditation, time and quiet and focus is, you know, connecting to God and higher self and understanding how to just sit there and be open to receive those messages. And he's like that's how you can stay strong in your knowing. And I thought that was like well duh, but we talk about that all the time, so journaling can force that.
Speaker 2:But we talk about that all the time. So journaling can force that, and even prayer and meditation truly is what he was saying. But I think those are from a place of communion, right. So it's like it is this, this, this, you, this human self, right, and God and your higher self, and there's this communion piece and so it doesn't feel so much like from a place of desperation, like I think sometimes like a lower conscious perspective on prayer would be just like I really need something, I'm asking for it kind of thing, you know.
Speaker 2:But I think the evolution of that I'm sure you're hearing that through what experience you had with a priest was like just, you know, really going into communion with it and being able to know and be confident in that knowing, because that's what's coming through in that prayer, right, and meditation too. I know I want to like just pause here and honor the fact that meditation. I've had people say to me I just can't do it, I can't make my mind stop, I can't, you know, and so I want to honor that and I want to say just, if you're curious about it and you do feel to it and you experience those things where it's like my mind just won't shut up, it's okay, like, keep going with it. I have that too. I've been, you know, really using meditation every single night for the most part for quite some time now, because I decided that that was something I wanted to do. But there are some nights where that thing is playing and I've thought about a million other things than that. Right, but when it's still going and then I connect back into it, I connect back in right in the moment that I needed it, like right in the part of it that I needed to gather something from it or I needed to really feel something within myself. So one little tip that I will say that has been helpful is just I catch myself and then I say, oh, that happened, and then come back to it. So again, it helps us.
Speaker 2:What we've called before on the podcast of like, just don't judge yourself for it, just know that you've shown up for it and allow it to be an experience if you want it. If you're doing meditation and you feel like, ugh, I don't like this, I don't want to do it, then that's not your tool. Again, that's okay, you don't have to do that. But if it is something you're feeling called to, that's why we're talking about it. Let's look at how we can navigate it. It's not always so smooth. There's going to be some bumpy parts or some sticky parts, like you've said. So, yeah, definitely Awesome.
Speaker 2:Other tools, right, that we've talked about, of course, like I love little messages, little. I have these little angel cards that you know we've talked about synchronicities before. I love angel numbers. They're always God winks. For me it's like so you know, for me they're just like little confirmations or little things that help you. So those are fun, just because they oftentimes kind of springboard into something else, right, I mean, honestly, I think they're awareness tools. You know, they're just bringing us to that center, bringing us to think about that. You know, I feel that way.
Speaker 2:I've collected rocks since I was a child. I love crystals. I know that they hold energy, I know that they can really again just bring us to awareness. So you know, know, there's different things that I'll explore. I have books and kind of learn about them and and that sort of thing, but, um, it's just a tool of the earth that I think has always been something I've connected to. So if you ever see me sharing about those, that's really what it is. It's just it helps me be able to like, settle, you know, borrow the energy. We talk about borrowing things, right. Borrow the energy from something else for a minute and then come into, like that higher self, that knowing.
Speaker 1:We'd like to take a break from our show to invite you to join our Patreon community. Over on Patreon, we have so many incredible resources to support you in your journey to living your most health filled and joy filled life. We have journal prompts, we have exclusive host interviews. We have incredible resources with self affirmations and guidance on how to approach creating your own reality with ease. We hope to see you over on Patreon soon and we look forward to welcoming you into our incredible community.
Speaker 1:I mean, owen is convinced that all gems give powers. So and he's five, so he knows I mean he even he'll like touch my engagement ring and he'll be like mommy, is this giving me powers? So there's a knowing there, there's a vibe. Even small children get it. I think that there's also, you know, there's other ways of getting to know ourselves. You know we just I was telling you as we got on get ready for today is that we just did a behavior assessment through our whole department at work, and the goal here is I'm the operations lead, so I'm trying to run the ship but was to really have our team better understand who they are, how they're coming into situations, how they can be more conscious and aware of the other people that they're working with, because one of the things that's lacking right now is this unified vibe and so taking the time to get to know ourselves and I know everyone's like, oh, personality assessments or whatever, but no matter.
Speaker 1:If it tells you what you already know, then it's still reminding you to take a pause and to think through what it is you're receiving. And for me, in this particular time, with this, it was a good reminder to me that I am always going to think process-oriented. It doesn't matter. I was at the grocery store and she's like hey, we run your order the night before and I was like great, but your process says that I have until midnight, so I'm sorry that you're having to take things out of my order, but maybe you shouldn't start until after midnight. So, but to me, knowing that that's how I think and not other people think like that, I'm able to be more receptive. I'm able to be more soft and gentle when I'm approaching other people, and I know we want to get there, so I'm going to push us there, but we want to talk about, like horoscopes and where we're at, and so during like 2020, 2021, I decided to do a birth chart assessment, and so everyone knows, like their birthday, I'm Virgo. Like oh yes, like we know the typical Virgo traits. Virgo like, oh yes, like we know the typical Virgo traits.
Speaker 1:But when I did this birth chart, shauna, I am all Virgo. In almost 99% aspects of my life I am Virgo, and so what does that mean for me? It was like I need people like you to ground me. I need people like you to help me be more loose and fun and creative, and so I started to think about the people I surround myself with and I was like, oh yep, that's why I do that, that's why those people are drawn to me and I like, no matter what our belief systems are I mean, I've just become very clear I am of strong faith and belief in God, but I still believe in these things because the earth is powerful, the moon is powerful, these things exist and they're real. So I know you want to get into this, so let's get into it a little bit more.
Speaker 2:Yes, and I just love how you prefaced all of that, because that's what it is you guys like.
Speaker 2:It's one of these topics that maybe in the past and I actually think this is an old story that I'm just working through let's just put that out there. It's just an old story I'm working through, but in case you're working through it too, I'm going to tell you. So I think there's this premise that you know, talking about horoscopes, or talking about human design, or talking about gene keys or any of these things that just look at, like, when you were born and what time you were born and what location you were born and how are you connected to the cosmos and the moon and all of those things. Sometimes those things get this bad rap or even just get this like that's woo-woo, that's silly. Why would you think that? Any of those things? And so I'm just putting that on the table because I think that, like you said, it allows us to get clarity. It allows us. I love what you said when you were talking about the tool, the behavior tool you were using at work. It's a unity tool. Hello, like this is what we're talking about. You know, consciousness is about coming to a place of, yes, understanding ourselves, but from a place where we are in this united energy, um, that we can all be evolving together. Um, and so, yeah, digging in on those things, and I love just like I was laughing and smiling and all the things when you were saying you're like 99% Virgo yeah, I know, but the same thing, like I need that part of you for the things that are me right. So you know, we actually have an upcoming episode where we have a guest who's going to come and we'll dig really kind of into that even more when it comes to, like, the big three that you might hear in horoscope and those kind of things. But, yeah, I just think that it is really cool to dig in.
Speaker 2:And I mentioned a moment ago, like one of the things that, of course, as usual, when we talk about a topic or we get called to a topic, something comes through or some little gift is coming right, and so I followed some breadcrumbs through Gene Keys and that was new to me. It's a tool that's been around Richard Rudd who has created this tool. He is a master in metaphysics, he's real deep in that side of things, but anyway, he blends genetics, he blends spirituality and personal growth in that side of things. But anyway, he blends genetics, he blends spirituality and personal growth in this really cool way. He does have a background in human design, but he kind of got called to really just kind of look in on these keys or like this connection with DNA, who we are right and where we came from, and genetics and all of that, and so it was just I followed it from a place of like contemplation and maybe, like even my intellect brought me there.
Speaker 2:But then I think the important factor I want to say here is don't get stuck there like, don't get stuck in the heady part of it, right like, allow ourselves to like assimilate all of this and see what it is that can kind of come through. So, like with this particular tool he's showing you know our shadows like so it's actually some of the deep dark, like what you might have said earlier, katie, that uncomfortable stuff that, like, we do get to sit with. But that's what we're saying too. That's part of the conscious journey. Get to sit with, but that's what we're saying too. That's part of the conscious journey. We we do need to allow ourselves to look at those lower frequency patterns that we maybe feel like are suffering, struggle, contrast, all those kinds of words that we use, um, and really see where they're coming from. And then we look at the polarity of that and we start to see like our gifts he uses the word city, which actually is like an Indian term for like representing, like our divine gifts, like our really like core of where we come from.
Speaker 2:And so all that to say like mind blowing you guys, like this tool, like digging in on it, has allowed me to sit in introspective to really contemplate, to really allow myself to go there to get curious.
Speaker 2:I found a meditation that connected to one of the shadows that I was really being called to let myself look at.
Speaker 2:Um and uh, it just blew my mind. It just blew my mind and all of the experiences I've had this week have linked back in with some of that work that I did with it or started to even do with it, because this is just like an ongoing process, right, and so many of the things that I have been wanting or desiring or experiences that I would want to have in my life have been like showing up this week and just really cool things connected pieces and there's no doubt in my mind that I could see it, that I could attend to it, because I said yes to the tool, because I said yes to being curious about that. Yeah, so that's the part that I think that we're really trying to encourage and inspire here is like that's why being curious and not feeling like, oh, I shouldn't do that, like so-and-so said, that's dirty or bad or woo-woo or whatever- Well, I think, too, to spin that other than like whatever it is that's drawing you just back to what we said last time.
Speaker 1:It's like if you're feeling drawn to something, there's a reason, and I think that having this conscious awareness of these pieces of ourselves and what we're hoping to discover and learn about ourselves, it helps you address life with those eyes wide open, like, instead of being like, oh, why is this happening to me, it's really making you more aware, Like you're saying, like you noticed all of these things, but think back, like if you wouldn't have had that conscious awareness of what you needed, then you would have really been kind of like, going through the motions, realizing like, oh, this is just happening. Um, your car's breaking down, you need a new car. You talked about that last episode. Yes, oh no, this is an opportunity. Like, this is something for us, and I think that, um, we this just you know, even this weekend, one of the things that I am constantly placing out in some way shape or form when it comes to my gratitude practice is that I know that I was chosen to be the mother of these children and when they test me or they push me in some way, I know, even if I don't always react accordingly, but I know it's for my highest good, it's to make me a better person in some way, shape or form. This child is teaching me those lessons and vice versa. I'm learning to model things better, like how I react. I see things so strategically and when I get these whys oh man, the number of times I've said I am your mother you just, you just say yes, ma'am, like it's. And then I reflect back on that. I'm like, okay, well, um, he's not like that, he's five. So I have to work through that and I think that's just constantly.
Speaker 1:It's easy to get bogged down in all of it and just be like, oh, can I just live, can I just be like? I don't want to consciously think about all these things and we're not asking you to like inundate yourself with it, but we're just asking for this overall awareness and sometimes we have to use these tools to help us be aware, even if it's just short term. Um, and, like I said, with the behavior assessment I haven't done one in a while. I know essentially who I am and how I am, but it's always good to have a fresh reminder because there's tools. Things change Like in the X many times, since you've done something, and I mean I kind of I want to post back our episode on love languages. Even that has changed and so it's important to understand that. And if we aren't changing, we aren't living.
Speaker 2:Yes, oh, that's a big statement there. Right, allowing the change, yeah, and everything you were just saying when I was hearing through that is flexibility, right, is just knowing that there is something in all of this that we need to gather up. It's on purpose. You know, one of the things for me this week is, um, in my role, um, you know, as purpose partner you guys have heard me say that um, you know, my new role as executive administrator, principal of the school, right, um, we had, um, our accreditation visit this week and I will be completely honest that I know that a big part of my experience with that. It was an incredible experience and it really worked out in an incredible way for us. But I was able, because of the work that I had allowed myself to do this week and looking at those shadows and looking at those gifts and really spending the time to consciously get in on that.
Speaker 2:My experience was different. I do know that there was a previous version of myself that would have seen that experience as very transactional, very much a business situation, very much. These are the parameters and these are the things that you need to say, do be, have, perform to make this happen. Right, but because of digging in and allowing that I was able to have an experience with the person who came from the commission to do this. That felt very meaningful, very connected, allowed me to actually kind of show the pieces that I didn't know right, that is one of my shadows.
Speaker 2:Like I had this piece of like, inadequacy. Like you know, there is this piece of like should know that, no, I don't know all of those system things right, and so allowing myself to, you know, soften into that right, um, and have some conversations with her about that and allow me to say, like I don't know this piece, Can you show me that piece and allow her to tell you know stories and learn from those things and allow it to be a connected, meaningful experience with that other human, just like you said with your kids, katie. Like there's so much power in that, and so I'm really excited that that's coming through this episode too, of just like there's a unity in all of this, like, yes, we're talking about inner work, but we're talking about inner work and the ripple effect it has, as we all do it, on the collective, and that really lights me up. I love that part of this.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's so good. This is probably been a lot for our listeners to just absorb, but I hope that the basic takeaways are there for us, and so, shauna, I know you have a really beautiful wrap up, so let's dive in and kind of bring it back for our listeners on what they can take away.
Speaker 2:Yes, this has been a good one. You guys, I'm so excited that we got to go there. But as we end today, I do want to remind you these routines, these rituals we share, these things we get curious about. They don't have to be the things that you run and do. It's not another to-do list item, it's not a check the box.
Speaker 2:You guys, the idea here has been for you to follow your own energy, your own curiosity. If you hear a tool, you've heard a topic that feels inspiring, then follow those breadcrumbs. We're encouraging you to be intentional with the process, that introspection, that contemplation. It's all an inside job. Finding the tools that allow you to explore from your wholeness are the real gems.
Speaker 2:If any of the tools feel heady for you, like I said earlier, don't feel you know like they, don't feel like they're connected or complete. Just commit to the journey of you. Commit to allowing the quiet, allowing the stillness, finding those pause moments, those consistent times that feel like you can connect with who you are, you can get to know yourself, be confident in it, that divine soul, god guiding your heart, lighting you up. All that goodness You're going to want to keep accessing it. You're going to want to follow those breadcrumbs for clarity and connection and know that some of the things, like we said, that come up for you.
Speaker 2:They might feel uncomfortable or shadow work. Don't interpret that as it's not for you. Be brave, allow yourself to go there, because those parts of you here's the thing this is really key. You guys, those parts of you are not broken. We're not fixing broken things. We're actually allowing ourselves to see them, to navigate them, to nourish them. We're uplifting these things within us. We're getting all that our soul intended to gather up when we decided to take this let's be honest wild ride as a human experience. Acknowledge the old fears, those stories, those programs that are coming up for you when you go inward and we know that you're going to be so grateful that you did Until next time we send you off with so much love and curiosity.
Speaker 2:Until next time we send you, stay curious and trust your intuition.
