Welcome to it Gets To Be Easy Podcast where you're granted permission to live your most healthful and joy-filled life with ease.
Speaker 1:We are your hosts, katie and Shawna, and together we've been cracking the code to creating our own realities with ease, and now we've set out to help you grow confident in this too.
Speaker 2:Hey friends, welcome back to the show. I've got to ask have you been connecting into these messages we have been sharing so far this year? The two of us really have been following the energy of just being more open to having this evolved mindset around our relationship with time. You know, our first new episode in this year was about embracing time, abundance and intentional living, so if you haven't listened into that yet, make sure to press play on that one too. We've actually gotten some of you reaching out feeling inspired with an up-leveled ritual and routine that I know I had some newfound love for. Katie was sharing her love for it, so go check it out. We are excited for you to splash into it too. Hint, hint, don't miss that one. Also, last time we mentioned that we were recently guests on Outlier Edge podcast, which you guys. This was such a magnetic conversation. The episode is finally out and we will link it here in the show notes. You can listen to that one actually on all platforms too, and I think it's really cool. They do have a video version of it on YouTube, so check it out.
Speaker 2:The episode unfolded really to hold this theme of become your future self now, and on it we were talking about allowing yourself to dream, following inspired actions while releasing hustle, creating little evidences of success and really just being it along the way. So today we wanted to bridge the flow of these recent conversations by really tapping into this topic of conscious intentions and allowing versus pushing results. An older version of us really may have been just kind of unconsciously habituating to actually limiting ourself by maybe buying into these beliefs that things are happening to us and that we have to hurry up and effort our way into making something happen that we want to manifest into our reality. And it just isn't the truth. So we're going to dive in here. Katie, I know you shared how you were noticing, you know, focusing or shifting your focus on your habits related to this intentionality of what you want to create in your now moments. So I'd love for you to kick us off there, like let's jump in and expand on that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, of course, we are no stranger to your habits create your life, and so, as we're talking about time and time management, there's a couple of things that I realized. I was kind of really just going into my day, continuing to let the day drive me, which is gotten away from habits that I know are helpful, and so stepping back into intentional mornings and going back into taking time just a few minutes to check in on gratitude what's going on with the day, how I'm going to receive gratitude the day, no matter what it is. And another piece of this was really time blocking. So I was realizing that I wasn't I was getting frustrated when I was like trying to take a minute to myself, but it was just like these piecemeal minutes to myself, and I was like my frustration is stemming from the fact that I feel like I'm cutting. I'm doing a disservice to me, but really the disservice was not being intentional with my time.
Speaker 1:And so going back to that like a little bit of time blocking and looking at the day and finding those little pockets of time, realizing that I'm now feeling more at ease. I'm feeling like I can say yes more to my kids Right now we're covered in snow, so they want to go sledding, or they want to do this, so they want to do that. Whereas before I'd be like, oh, that's my time, and I'm like, no, I set that time aside, I'm going to get that. I have this capacity now and I'm feeling a little bit lighter, feeling a little bit more free, because I'm mastering that time a little bit more.
Speaker 2:I love that. Yeah, that intentionality with time. I think that's really key for us to tap into and, honestly, like, when our intention really is to be the greatest version of ourself, then you know, we are more available to hear those inner messages about the things that we want to create, right? We recently were listening to another podcast together, an episode that was just really like stop sleepwalking through your life, right, and he was talking about that.
Speaker 2:And you know, I think that that's what was coming through for me lately, too is just like we have been in the habit of maybe limiting ourself by like not being intentional with that, if that makes sense. So I think that you know it's easy to get out of that sometimes, especially when we have new things going on, like we've mentioned that in our previous episode that both of us have had shifts in our job, right, and so things might look a little different or feel a little different, or maybe we're just like feeling things out in a different way. Right, for me, I know that they're actually so much more aligned with what I've been wanting to do, so it's actually really awesome stuff that's going on, but it is, you know, can be easier to like forget that you have these things in place, that you want to continue to make sure really are prioritized. So I love where you're going with that, for sure.
Speaker 1:I think what is like what's coming in right now is is this comment you made just to it's, like you know from our outliers podcast. But when I was relistening to it, it's like becoming our future selves now or recognizing these little successes. And I started to have this download where I was like I feel like we're doing New Year's recaps wrong. Like the traditional way is like okay, how am I going to take charge of this year? What's going to happen? And really and I know we've talked about this, but that's what I was having to download again I was like, really, it's an opportunity to be like where have I set myself up for success? Like what are these things that are going well, that are not going well? And there's this exercise that at work, it's very corporate-y, but it's stop, start, continue. Like what do you want to stop, what do you want to start, what do you want to continue? And that's kind of in line with this habits conversation. Like what do I want to start or restart? That I know works for me. What do I want to stop and what do I want to keep continuing? And one of the things that I want to keep continuing with is looking back and saying what is something that set me up for this?
Speaker 1:Because right now, as you talked about, we're in these shifts for work and part of me is like, did this come out of nowhere? Like there's that instinct of like wait, a second wait. Did this really just happen? No, it didn't. We were setting ourselves up for these things and we knew we were in the trenches for them. That eventually, you know, it's not always about quote them, that eventually, you know it's not always about quote, like making your life more simple. But it is in the way of like I set myself up for this because I was doing certain things at work, I was doing certain things at home with my life. I was feeling ready for this change and so now I'm open to receive it.
Speaker 1:And you don't realize those things unless you're taking a minute to be like how did we get here? And I'm okay with it because I wanted to be here, whereas I feel like sometimes, when you get job expansions like this, you can be like oh my God, I'm getting all this work. Why am I getting all this work? I'm hearing that from people on my team, but I'm like but you're getting it because you're probably ready for it and it feels sticky and uncomfortable. But think about everything you did to get to this point, like this was your path and I. That's such a novel concept, I feel like because we don't. We're always so focused on like where do I want to go, and then pushing to get there, instead of realizing like I can allow that, I can be open to that and these are the little things I'm going to do along the way to continue to be open to that. Does that make sense?
Speaker 2:Yeah, it really does, and I think one of the things that was coming through as you were saying that for me was that you know we can get to a place where we're trying to do too much to make something happen Right, and so then it's like we're really focused on what's not working Right, and so you kind of can get stuck in that not what's not working. And I think one of the really key, important things with intentionality is figuring out how to get clarity on what it is that you want, and so one of the steps is understanding what you don't want. That is a tool, you know, but sometimes we get stuck there. We can get stuck in that what we don't want, and so then we focus on, you know, what's not happening, and so I think it blocks what you were saying, like it can block us not receiving right or not even celebrating that these are the things that we've been working towards, these are the things we've been asking for, you know, and so you can almost get into this habit of identifying the things that are wrong, and so then you're not even seeing the things that are right, you know.
Speaker 2:And so I know, going into my shift with my position, I've been really being conscious of recognizing the things that are going right and recognizing the opportunity to step into and help create, with other people, the things that they want to see going right too, and so I've just I've been able to shift and see more of a flow, and I think that that's really the encouragement around. Being intentional is is being super clear about what it is that you do want, so that you are seeing that. What we called on the outliers podcast, those little evidences that we are seeing that, and so then, the more we see that and align with that energy, the more of that we magnetize into our lives, versus just stirring in the things that don't feel like they're working out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and the important piece that I want listeners to take away from this is like allowing yourself the permission to sit and identify what it is you want and and being being selfish about it and understanding that, like there's, you can't. If you don't put it out there, you're not going to get drawn to it. And so as we shift, you know, as this conversation continues to flow, there was another quote from the podcast that I shared with you. That I really liked was like, if you sit with and realize the things that you're being drawn to are your like deep heart, divine desires? How does that change your perception of that? And if you are allowing yourself to sit and even if it's just hitting you today, you're like, okay, I'm in this situation, did I like is this what I wanted? Like I'm being drawn to this because of what? And it's okay to realize that in that moment.
Speaker 1:But then sit with it and realize the reasoning behind it, and I think that goes for contrast experiences or things that we might perceive as negative happening to us I think was what you shared too instead of that happening for us, and unfortunately, some of those opportunities come in forms of discomfort, but it's so important to try and have the mindset of like, okay, like, how am I going to deal with this?
Speaker 1:What's going to happen here? I mean, that's how I felt, even just with little things, this morning, of just realizing, okay, I'm solo, parenting, like I can move these things around, I can ask for these, instead of feeling frustrated or discomfort. I'm like I am so blessed to have a job that I can be this flexible with. I'm blessed to have these opportunities to be, you know, recording a podcast with my friend and we can be flexible there. But all of these things are because my desire was to have a job that gave me the time to walk the kids to the bus stop, to have an outlet to express my creative energy and, yeah, sometimes it's bumpy, but it's still something that I desire and I'm going to continue to work towards those things so I can keep them.
Speaker 2:So good. There's so many things that you said there. One, definitely that attitude of gratitude, right. So that's a big one that I think we're being called to make sure that we continue to tap in there and that we allow that to fuel where we are in each now moment, for sure. And then also something that you said I wrote down don't rush past the discomfort. So that is something that I know has been coming through. For me that's connected to what you said.
Speaker 2:Going into that was like allowing yourself to dream up or how these goals or whatever, right. So I'm going to give an example here. Like I've been driving my same car since I got married you know, 13 years almost and there was this you know she was showing me her age and those kinds of things and, um, I was spinning in a lot of energy around that things maybe not working the way that I wanted them to, and um, oh no, and all these things. I mean we just rely on our cars to be the protective mechanism as well as get us where we need to go, right. So I did a lot of inner work with that and so just started to get clarity on what's my intention, and my intention was to allow myself to want a new car, as crazy as that sounds like, you know, my higher self is like heck. Yeah, you deserve one, but I've got this thinking mind, you know, that could tell me all of the reasons why I don't need that, you know, without me having to rush through it, without me having to fix it or worry about what someone else might think about it, or am I doing it the way that society says to do this process, all these silly things? But anyway, it's just been really powerful. So I sold my car a couple of weeks ago. We've been in the process of the new one and just letting that unfold.
Speaker 2:There was gaps between when we went to look for those. The new car is still in transit. So, you know, I just had a colleague offer her car to me without me saying you know anything, and so it was just like you're magnetizing these things by slowing down, you know, allowing yourself to observe that discomfort is there. You know the humans part of us is really into survival, right, and so it wants to go to like no, I can fix this. No, I can make this work. No, I can settle for this car when I really don't want it, but I would have one if I got it.
Speaker 2:You know some of those kind of stories and so I just share that story to say like I think it's very powerful for us to allow ourselves to observe, allow ourselves to pause, to slow down, to not rush and make it happen, to be intentional with the process, the journey. And then there's so many little evidences and like there's some things that I feel like have rapidly transferred and happened through this process and I'm sure on the other side I'm going to be like, oh, that was so quick when you know time, it actually was a longer process. So it's just it's been a really cool thing. But I think it really relates to what we're saying is that we can move from those things of like happening to me to you know, getting to a place where it's like happening as you, like you have what Katie just said, this divine, you know essence about you that really truly does know what you want and what you're here to experience, and the more that we allow that, versus trying to push them, make happen.
Speaker 1:That's what intention is about oh, and just one of the things, too, was remembering those like being in tune with your body and taking that moment and I think a lot of those things we you know, combining a lot of concepts that we talk about. But it's like if you're not sitting in rest, even for just a few moments, or, like I said, you know, I needed to time, block time for me, whether that's moving my body, which is a form of meditation, so it's my walks, um, or just sitting and being, it's, you're not going to have time to tap into those things, and I think that I wrote this down. It's like if you're sitting with the discomfort and not pushing through the moment, then you can. You see the divine guidance in those moments and it, you know, you don't have to be overly religious or anything like that to believe that there is signs and that are leading us to what we need to be going towards.
Speaker 1:And this goes to my favorite concept right now is just like are we saying yes or are we saying no? And if we're saying yes, it's because we feel this full body yes, I want to do this. And if you're saying no, it's because there's any hesitation of like eh, this isn't really what's for me and being okay with that. And so we're kind of pulling these concepts together. It's like if you're not making the time to sit and be present and think about what you need and what you want, then you're not going to have that tuned in, tuned like perception when you have these moments that you're supposed to be like drawn to and recognizing those moments. So that's just like some encouragement to just continue to make that time and realizing I think I wrote it this morning and in my like setup of my journal I was just like today's intention is to be at peace with the flow of the day and to not push things and force things, and that's something that this morning I needed because there was a lot of different things going on.
Speaker 2:So I love that intention. That's a really good one. And, yeah, as you were saying that, I think you know it doesn't matter what you're actually doing, right, everyone's going to have their own ritual or routine or what that looks like, but I think what you're saying is like really making sure that that continues to be a priority to set aside, and you know, I do encourage to make sure that it's not just something that you're going through the motions, though, so make sure it is something that is really connecting right, like that's the piece that we're really tapping into. You know that one podcast we were listening to is talking about how we can tap into prayer as a frequency, right. So it really is going into communion with source and praying, realizing and feeling that whatever it is that we desire is here, versus praying for it to come.
Speaker 2:And you know, when it's difficult for us to access that, we do have to tap in and recognize that we have to remove distractions. To tap in and recognize that we have to remove distractions, we have to find those pause moments to breathe into, to get that connection to really link in with that divine source, energy, in order to really trust and believe that this is within us to create our reality and that if we're already kind of living in the energy of it being here, then it of course it is going to start to show itself in our reality in so many tiny little ways that you know, for me I feel like sometimes they just blow my mind because they just here they are, and you realize, like when you take that moment you're like, oh, I asked for that, here it is. I asked for that, here it is. So I think that's where we're going with this of asking you to make sure that you are still tapping into whatever routine and rituals are for you to connect.
