Speaker 2:

Welcome to it Gets To Be Easy Podcast where you're granted permission to live your most healthful and joy-filled life with ease.

Speaker 1:

We are your hosts, katie and Shauna, and together we've been cracking the code to creating our own realities with ease, and now we've set out to help you grow confident in this too. Hi friends, welcome back. We are so excited to be here today with our first episode of 2025. Today, we are geared up to chat about something that we started to get a few sneak peek, downloads and experiences over the last year or so here and there, and even chatted about here on the show, and now we're both seeing and feeling how our relationship with the concept of detaching from time scarcity and the pressure to make it all happen is evolving even more, and I think it's going to be really fun to see where this expanded chat goes today. And I think the timing is doesn't matter if it's beginning of the year or wherever it falls, but this is a good conversation to jump in at any time. So are we ready to dive in?

Speaker 2:

Yes, let's do this. I am excited about this conversation too and, yeah, I think, reflecting on it, it's like, yeah, we saw little pieces of this coming through. We've been observing this in our own lives when we have looked at where we were nudged to rest and where we think sometimes we're still hustling and then we have to encourage ourselves to look back at that. And it really just made me think that our relationship with time is so connected to old, outdated patterns that we have, and I want to just encourage everyone listening in that I think this is something that is very beneficial for all of us to continue to observe, because this is going to support us consciously living, really feeling like we do have control of creating our own realities, because we're able to then observe where we're kind of entangling with those old stories attached to time and like for me, I know, when I see that it's like fear comes up right, like, oh no, you know I'm supposed to be doing it this way, or you know all those ego kind of things that just kind of go into protection mode of why you do something a certain way, because you always have, or you need to make sure that everything's going to be okay, right, those fear driven kind of stories and even scarcity, like you said.

Speaker 2:

I think that is still a really big component when we tap into observing time, because you know, I know that, I've thought it, I've heard it, you know, with coaching others, it's just like but I don't have time for that, and I really feel like that is something that we actually need to use that as a trigger to pause us and be like is it that we don't have time or is it that it's not a priority? And then, if it is, it's like well then now I need to do something to make it a priority right, or to follow that inspired action to let things flow. So that's why we're back here talking about this again and wanting to dig into it deeper and just I can't wait to see where this just naturally flows today, because we want you all to see that it's what is happening with it in our lives. We want you to see the bumpy part of it too, the things that we still kind of bang up against and try to nourish in our own lives.

Speaker 1:

So let's do it. Yeah, the priority concept is, or topic, is, something that I think is definitely it's perpetual in our lives and you have to determine what it is, and we said this often. It's something that I really truly lean into is like being conscious of what you're saying yes to and being comfortable with what you're saying no to. And I think the key thing about that I find for myself, when it comes to like triggers of whether or not I am feeling like I have time for something, is all based on how I'm prioritizing it in my life. And I say that you know it's, oh, it's so easy. You know you make it a priority or not. But to me, where I've been really leaning into is if I don't instinctively make it a priority or feel called to make it a priority, then I'm really evaluating to make it a priority, then I'm really evaluating where it fits in my day, my schedule, my life, if it should fit there at all, and so there's there's that desire of like actually wanting to do something too. So I think that when it comes to this time scarcity piece that's a key component of it. It's like are you feeling like it's not time, you don't have time for something. What is? Why? Is that Like? Like you said, is it because it's not a hard yes, or is it because it's it's an easy no, but we're feeling some sort of guilt around it and I try to think about it this way.

Speaker 1:

It's like, especially as a parent, because then you're also dealing with the times, the times that your of your kids' schedules and what they need. And our oldest was like I'd like to run track, and my instinct immediately was like yeah, I'm not adding that to my schedule, because there's also the side of that was like is he going to prioritize practice? Is he going to prioritize making time to stretch fitness, all these things that I'm like this is what goes into this commitment and it's I'm happy to prioritize his health and well-being and desires to try new things, but we also have to model that for the kids too. So it's just I like this concept. I have so many live examples that I can think of right now, and one thing that I don't want to fall back into hustle. So it's like goes back to our hustle concepts of like what? What's the good hustle, what's the bad hustle?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I love that, and I think keeping that pulse on hustle, you know, like not wanting to fall back, it's not from a place of fear of like, oh no, that's going to happen. It really is coming from a conscious place, and I can feel and know that from you, but I want others to hear that too. That's the kind of nuance here, you guys, is that we do fall back there, we do start to observe ourselves there, but it is with the intention to consciously be able to shift and kind of take that inventory, as we always say. And you know, I think I love what you said about being comfortable with the things that you do need to say no to. You know and I think that that's something that I've seen in my own life that I'm reflecting on is like, sometimes you feel like you're still saying yes to things just because that's how you've always done them, or someone else needs you to do it, and then you really actually have to sit with those stories, because maybe in the past they were something that someone needed you to do, but they might actually not still be, and so they may be also having an inkling about something, but then also feeling the same way, and so it's like, oh, we actually need to have these conversations together, right? And so, similarly to what you're saying with your kiddos, when you're making those decisions, it is a little bit more than just a yes or a no.

Speaker 2:

You know, it is really kind of looking at what's the meaning of what we're saying yes to and you know what is the impact and is it aligned with our intentions and the things that we want in our life right now? Or maybe is it just something that we saw someone else doing and like, oh, that looks like fun or that looks like something we want to do, or I want to do it that way too. And then it's like, actually, you really don't. So, yeah, I think one of the things that was really downloading for me this morning, as I was listening to another podcast about focus in your day and it made me think about priority too. But one of the things that I think is really different about focus consciously and maybe what would have been focused during hustle is actually pausing and being is actually pausing and being versus just getting your to-do list and going at it. There really is a nuance there too, and I hope we're all seeing and feeling that as we start to explore this more.

Speaker 2:

I think we do actually have to make sure that we are setting up these rituals, routines, whatever they are, to constantly bring ourselves back to clarity on our intentions and why we want something in our life, or revisiting why it was working and now it's not, and now we don't want it in our lives. I think that's a really big piece of continuing to take a look at our relationship with time. And then, which you know, is that next step of like what we're putting our energy on, and it really comes back to so much of what we said from the beginning of this show about like allowing ourselves to have the stillness, allowing ourselves to slow the pace, at least on a consistent basis, whether it's five minutes or an hour, wherever it fits right. But I want us to go there too, because I think that's an important part of this code that we're bringing to you.

Speaker 1:

We'd like to take a break from our show to invite you to join our Patreon community. Over on Patreon, we have so many incredible resources to support you in your journey to living your most health-filled and joy-filled life. We have journal prompts, we have exclusive host interviews, we have incredible resources with self-affirmations and guidance on how to approach creating your own reality with ease. We hope to see you over on Patreon soon and we look forward to welcoming you into our incredible community. Yeah, so I think it sounds like a good opportunity for us to just go back and help our listeners take that pause moment. You're talking about and how do you look at what your priorities are, what your values are and we have some value exercises in our Patreon account, so it'd be a great time to just go back into those and like what is it that you are prioritizing in your life? Because what's important to you can change quarter to quarter, month over month, and before we logged onto the podcast, sean and I, we were discussing what's going on in our lives, what's changing. She's changing roles. I'm expanding role, which means more responsibilities and it's things that we desire, but it also means that what what we prioritize in our personal and professional lives is going to shift some. So you have to sit and think with that and I think it's a good reminder for me because I feel like you know, coming out of the holiday season, which is always a hustle, whether I mean, even if you try and pull the reins back, it's still a little bit of a hustle. Everyone's out of routine and things like that.

Speaker 1:

But this is a great opportunity, I know, for me to sit and be like what does the next quarter look like? Because I know what we're doing in our personal lives. We have these travel coming up. I know I have travel professionally. And then you look in the bits and pieces like how do I want to fill the rest of that space? That's what conscious prioritization looks like. Like how do I want to fill the rest of that space? That's what conscious prioritization looks like and really designing your life the way that you know it'll feel good. So when I have all of these busy things going on, it's going to be more clear to me what I'm going to say no to and what I'm going to say yes to, because for me in this phase, it's going to have to be a very big yes in order for me to add it to my life. I hope that makes sense.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think that's great, really great, to go into it, that conscious prioritizing, and yeah, it is going to take us being able to pause and to look at those things on a consistent basis. I love that you brought up the values exercise, because it's okay for those things. They are going to shift and it doesn't mean, you know, I know I was having this conversation with someone and it's like, does our purpose shift? I don't know that it's necessarily that our purpose shifts. Our expression of our purpose shifts, Okay, and so that's the part that we need to be really okay with is that it's going to evolve, like we are going to be expressing that differently or being a support in a different way.

Speaker 2:

If you're in a, you know, a service career, just even you know, as your kids get older, it's just there's so much shifting that happens in our journey along the way, but we can stay connected to, like, our passion, our purpose through all of that and I think that's what we're trying to say here is like continuing to come back to that like home base piece of it, whether you know, with those routines and rituals, whatever that means for you. And I I do want to say specifically, like I think, you know, our patron, like you said, is a really good place to do that. Also, just knowing that you, um, you know, figure out what those little triggers are for you, that you know you need to have those like timeouts to be able to come to yourself right so, to that higher self moment. So, like what is it? What kind of practice are you developing in your life to help you connect with higher self? And you know, our definition of that when we talk about that is, like you know, sitting with God and knowing that we do have this divine guidance system that is leading the way, but if we're not taking the time to pause, we're not actually hearing what's coming through. So that's the part that we wanted to emphasize when we talk about that conscious priorities, for sure. And then one of the things that we wanted to emphasize when we talk about that conscious priorities, for sure.

Speaker 2:

And then one of the things that I think is really cool for us to also tap into is that we, you know we get to influence time. We actually do. I know that like time thing for humans, like it's a construct that is developed for us to have order and for us to try to understand things, you know, and I was laughing at myself. I was writing notes on this one day and I was like, you know, there's this whole relativity thing that you know in physics, and I was like, nah, I dropped my physics class, I'm not going there deeper there.

Speaker 2:

But what I do want to go deeper with is that we do have the ability to influence, we have the ability to expand time, we have the ability to collapse time if we need to, but it really has to do with being intentional, you know, and so that's the part of it. Like you know, you've had those experiences before right, where you like, today went by so fast, or today's dragging. We're influencing that by what it is that we're tangling up with or what it is that we're being so inspired to go with. Um, so that's what I mean by that expanding, collapsing and I think it's very powerful when we're tapping into creating these realities that we want.

Speaker 1:

Yes, that was good. Um, I think, too, there was something else we were talking about. We were talking about timeouts of practice and so some of those ways you talked about, like checking in with divine guidance, and, of course, there's always our journaling options, and so, again, not to keep toting our Patreon, but we have lots of journal prompts there that can really help our listeners take that time out. One of the ones that I was thinking through is just like what do we want to experience this year, what do we want to create this year? And taking the time to just feel what it feels like to us, and that will give us the opportunity to really go back to that being purposeful with time, being purposeful with our priorities and our passion, because understanding what we even desire to create is a huge step in the direction of really building out the life we want to live. Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Also, one of the things that I've been playing around with is like this code of time abundance, and for me that's been like just so, it seems simple, but it's like I'm not actually doing this enough.

Speaker 2:

So, like this is, this is helpful and I hope it'll help you too. It's like choosing to feel less hurried and more aligned with what I've been calling this regulated rhythm. Okay, as a chronic hustler, I have come to the realization that my nervous system was really dang good at that until it wasn't, and so I am actually in the place of re um or just like helping my nervous system see that it doesn't have to be on that go mode, okay. And so one of the things is this purposeful, like regulated rhythm and seeing that I can be less hurried, like even in something as simple as how fast I'm walking or how forceful I'm walking from the bathroom to my office, like what? Like what is the hurry here? You know, and it's not from a place of judgment, but it's really from a place of physically letting my nervous system see that that's not necessary to feel so frenzied, because we stay in that frenzy and then eventually, that is where the burnout piece of it comes from.

Speaker 2:

Right Is because it's just like the body is like enough is enough, like it cannot, and so that seems simple, but I think it's a really fun practice that I've been seeing things. And then also with seems simple, but I think it's it's a really fun practice that I've been seeing things. And then also with multitasking, like I think there is this place of multitasking that has its purpose. But there's sometimes where I've caught myself and I'm I laugh because I'm like why am I even trying to multitask this? Like what, what is necessary in that? Right, you know, if I just brush my teeth and don't try to do all of these things while I'm brushing my teeth.

Speaker 2:

It's just going to work out. So it sounds really silly and I'm laughing about it. But I want to encourage the listeners to go there with those little things, because this is what's going to help you start to connect to you, to start to help your nervous system see that it is okay to shift from hustle. You're not going to stop being successful those kinds of things just because you've started to put these little practices into play. Can you relate to?

Speaker 1:

that the walking comment is so on point. It reminds me when I was doing physical therapy for my ankle recovery and she's like you don't walk with so much purpose. She's like you don't have to walk so hard. And then this past weekend I was on a trip with my sisters and I was the one like pushing the stroller in front of everyone and they were like Katie, slow down. I'm like I'm sorry. So for the rest of the week and I was like so someone else should walk in front or you guys need to like check me on my pace, because it's just like. You're like I got somewhere to go, I gotta go, I gotta go, I gotta go. And I'm like no, that's the point here is to like go on this four mile walk with my sisters, just to like be, connect, whatever, like talk about the crap we did when we were kids, and then like realize, like you know, I was like, wow, I wasn't even a part of that memory. But now that you say that, I'm like now I have that for you, like it's just.

Speaker 1:

I think that goes to what you're saying too. Is it's just like? Are we just not able to just sit and be with ourselves? Is that the problem Brushing your teeth and multitasking. That made me laugh too, because I'm like, oh here, let me like brush my teeth but also like get out my face stuff and then find my pajamas and drag a load of laundry. Come on, katie, and I hope our listeners can relate to that and the point that we're calling that. I was like we're doing these things too and we're trying to be more conscious of our behaviors and that feeds into time scarcity when we do things like that, because it's telling our brain that we don't have enough time to do all the things. We have to do more than one thing at a time and it's just not true. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, one of the things too I'll give you this example that has been like for me. I, you know, I hear like how relaxing baths are and that they're really good, and I know like temperature changes are great for you and all these things. But I started to have a little reflection on that because I'd okay, yeah, I do it like once a month, kind of thing. And then I started a reflection like why don't I seek that out more? Why don't I seek that out more? And I was like, oh, it's because I'm in too much of a hurry to stay in the bath, like can't just be there. So I have been so intentional with doing it and in my world it does work because I don't have kids, and so when I've come home from work, I've used it as a transition tool. So I've like actually gone there and it was kind of cool.

Speaker 2:

One day my husband was like, hey, I have this work meeting and I was like, whoa, I get to stay here longer.

Speaker 2:

I don't, you know, need to go into my dinner making a plan yet. And so I was like, oh, wow, and it just blows my mind Like how allowing the nervous system to do that one is so regulating which is funny Cause you know my background is in teaching kids to regulate. Also, the amount of like downloads that come through, how I feel afterwards, how much I do still feel like I get done per se if that's still a priority in my day. You know, coming home from working outside the home and it's just like it does blow my mind. So I want to keep going there with you all and keep reminding you of this, because sometimes it feels like no, I don't have time for that, but actually that's expanding time. So, yeah, it's really cool, but I wanted you guys to see those real life examples, because we do talk about getting deep and going, journaling and having these workshop times with higher self and all of that which feels like you know more things that you really have to get into.

Speaker 1:

But start with simple things like that You're going to grow to hate shower day. I'm in the bath four days a week. Yeah, my husband's like I did not know this version of you existed. Like I was like I guess, welcome to 40. Like it's I mean, someone is awake during my bath time. Oh no, just no. So, yeah, if you don't have a bath, friends, find something else that like you can sit and just be. But yeah, that's, I became a bath. I think it's been like 18 months now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, baths are great and it doesn't have to be bath, but I guess what I'm saying is permission to learn what regulates you Get to know yourself better, whether you're 25 listening or you're 40, like, it's definitely an opportunity for you to tap in, get to know yourself better, get to you know, give yourself permission, let your nervous system regulate. It's going to do so much better for you when it is, and that's that's really what we're talking about here with this, with this time code is just allowing that abundance to come through. Rewrite some of these stories, these old things that are in your head. Step into a relationship with time that serves your well-being, serves your growth. Create those rituals, those practices, those pauses. Let the energy settle so that you can fly forward with whatever it is that you desire.

Speaker 2:

So does this feel like a good time to wrap? Yeah, I love it. Awesome. So love the conversation today. I'm loving just allowing it to flow.

Speaker 2:

We hope that it might be one that you even hit replay on with, because we want you to connect with those little nuggets. There's something here that, if you're here, you were supposed to hear it. They're really going to be mind blowing, incredible for us. You guys, we're really on this path of moving forward with this in our world.
