Welcome to it Gets To Be Easy Podcast where you're granted permission to live your most healthful and joy-filled life with ease.
Speaker 1:We are your hosts, katie and Shauna, and together we've been cracking the code to creating our own realities with ease, and now we've set out to help you grow confident in this too.
Speaker 2:Hey friends, welcome back to the show. Oh my gosh, I cannot believe that this is our final recording for this year of 2024. I have to say first, of course, as always, we are so grateful for each and every experience that we both have had separately in our year together. The fact that we've just been able to come and share our stories with you and, in turn, of course, our whole intention is to empower your journey through all of this too. Like many of you across the year, we really have been beckoned to ask ourselves some deep questions, allow a lot of observations, explore patterns in our own lives, which meant letting go of some things and then inviting in other things, and, of course, along the way, follow this amazing divine nudges that we always talk about getting all these downloads to support our expansion along the way. If you're just joining us for the first time, we want to say welcome to you. We are honored that you're here. This is actually our 47th episode of the year. We really want to invite you if you are just jumping in, or maybe if you just feel like you need to flow back through some of our shares from the past 12 months for some inspiration.
Speaker 2:I'll do a quick little recap here this year our podcast journey has been all about embracing authenticity, letting go of hustle culture and stepping into our own versions of inspired ease and action. We've been celebrating small wins and cultivating clarity to really redefine what is self-worth to us and exploring this higher consciousness. We've invited you all in to navigate your lives, too, with more joy, more balance and purpose. We've shared insights on creating healthy boundaries, decoding messages that our mind's giving us, our body, our heart that's sending to us, and to really open and harness the power of this divinely guided self-awareness that we feel like we really are starting to develop more and more along the way. We had the opportunity to partner with some amazing interviewees actually this year to inspire us from their strengths and their thought leadership too, and we're actually really excited to see what comes in the new year for some more of that too.
Speaker 2:Each episode this year truly has been a stepping stone towards living a more harmonious, fulfilling and intuitive life our harmonious, fulfilling and intuitive life. So today we thought it'd be fun to leave you with just some reminders and inspiration as we recap kind of our own year and what's coming through for that Choosing joy as you move forward into the next and we want to share a little something actually that we were invited to recently. We really enjoyed the experience, so we're going to chat a little bit about that today and you're going to get to check that out soon. All right, Katie, so kick us off today. I know you had some amazing pointers that you shared with me. Just kind of looking at how far we've come and taking chances as we keep moving forward.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know, when we are working towards like, what did? How did we want to wrap up the year? What did we want to talk about today? One of the things that we've really been focused on throughout the year, as Shauna said, is just like looking at how far we've come, making sure that we're making time to celebrate the successes along our journey, and then again, of course, is looking ahead and taking the chances that come up, that are presented, that keep us moving forward towards our big dreams and our big goals. So that's something we kind of want to dive into today as we reflect back on the year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think that's great One of the things that I started to do and I actually haven't finished doing it. But, as you all know, we talk a lot about journaling and so I was just, you know, peeping back through some of my journal entries throughout the year and just kind of seeing where the themes were and what was coming up, and I thought that was really fun, and a lot of what I was seeing was, yeah, there was you know, per se inner work that I was doing, but so much of it had to do with tapping into remembering but then also allowing, like my authentic self but really the whole intention of it was what you just said that like joy piece, you know. So like sometimes I think past versions of me was getting really hung up in all of the doing. You know, especially when it came to career stuff is like I have to do this, and not because I didn't enjoy it, because I do enjoy it. But it got to this point where it was like, is this lighting me up? You know, am I doing a lot of pieces that aren't, you know? So I guess that's kind of where I was going with this, and what I encourage you all to, as you're listening in, is just allowing yourself to reflect on that, not from a place of judgment, because none of those things were wrong. Those are all part of the journey and a process, but I think it's been very eyeopening this year.
Speaker 2:You know I started the year with the whole. You know, sometimes I choose words, sometimes phrases, and mine for this year was to, you know, this heart led journey and I'm like that's really what it was. You know a lot of the hustle and stuff is is heady, it's like all in our head and you know a lot of ego driven stuff, and so when we tap into our heart, I feel like that's, that's where I've been finding a lot of that like maybe not even exactly what brings me joy, but there's a lot of clarity starting to come through from allowing myself to do that work this year of like, oh, I don't have to do all these things that I don't like anymore things that I don't like anymore.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think it's so powerful to get into that space where, when you feel comfortable actually saying the no's, but then also where you've given yourself the permission to explore that and welcome those feelings, because from the you know the hustle standpoint, it can feel very uncomfortable, not hustling and that is an emotion and a feeling that we have to kind of grapple with. And I think one of the things when reflecting back on your journey throughout this year from the listener listener's perspective, is just to really focus on places where you were proud of yourself, instead of being like, oh, I could have done that better. Because I think it's easy to be like, okay, let's reflect back and have this focus of, oh, these are all the places that I didn't accomplish my goals or that I didn't do what I wanted to do or whatever. But really we want to look back and say these are so many places where I was like, yes, that's exactly it. And how you pivot that in the looking forward is you keep yourself open to the opportunities to have that same feeling, to keep doing those things that worked for you. Keep doing those things that worked for you. And I think what's been powerful for me is realizing, especially in this last quarter of the year it is, you know, having a new puppy has been so draining. It is so much work if you want a good dog and of course, the Achiever and me. Every time the dog trainer is like oh, you guys are doing so good. Little light bulbs flare in my head of the good feelings.
Speaker 1:But one of the things when I look back on it's like I could easily look back and say, oh, I haven't done a good job of taking care of myself in the way that I should be doing.
Speaker 1:But instead, what I can look back over this last quarter in particular is say I have really lightened my load in other areas and I don't feel guilty for it. I have prioritized this because it's this short period of time and I'm proud of myself for doing that. But what can I do in the next quarter? Where can I take advantage of better opportunities? And it's the dog can go to day camp once a week and I'm like so excited. I'm like, oh my God, a whole day and that's great, because then it's I'm not just going to fill that day with all of these things because you could easily do that, but I'm going to take that opportunity to, to rebuild this. You know, depleted feeling I have in my body, um, but that's the balance, like that's me, real life, riffing on, like reflecting back on wins and how I can take advantage, going forward, of still inching more towards the way I want to feel and the way I want to live.
Speaker 2:Yeah, oh my gosh, you said so much there. I definitely think those small win pieces of it and something that was very powerful and I want to just repeat it because I want to make sure the listeners tuned into that as women who have been tangled up in hustle and all of the doing. Katie just talked about releasing guilt. Let's just say that that's like maybe one of the biggest celebrations ever, right, it's a big deal, you guys, as women, that's a lot. It's a lot of it. It's a lot of what our ego uses in protection mode. We go into that guilt piece because it's like this is how we're going to stay protected and survive what we're getting through and resilience and all of those kinds of things that keep us more in that space. So love that you mentioned that and I also just want to celebrate in that you for you, friend, because that's that's a big one being able to release that guilt for sure.
Speaker 2:I know that's something that I've worked on too. You know some of the things with health, right, that sometimes I just have to recognize that authentically. If I tap into who I am, that authentically, if I tap into who I am, I am a highly sensitive person. I cannot be the same every single day. You know, if my body is going through things in my menstrual cycle, sometimes that might be, all it can do is to manage that Right. And it's been one of those journeys of releasing the guilt too, it's like. But you know I am a high performer and I'm pretty dang good at it most of the time right. So that's why the stories are a little more challenging to work through.
Speaker 2:But again, releasing that and just allowing that rest and continuing to build on what that has looked like for me this year has been big and you mentioned Katie too is that comfort level. We have to really allow ourselves to go there. You know, like some of this is, it is uncomfortable, you know, I know. For me tapping into that heart led journey this year there's been a lot of opportunities for me to go back in the timeline or revisit some of the film reel, if you will, throughout life and I've done it in a very conscious way of just allowing myself to go there, to release and to be able to give love and be able to move forward and evolve and integrate all of that. But it's not comfortable, you guys, to do that.
Speaker 2:So I do honor that in us, as we continue to go on this journey and share it here with you, is that there is this level of needing to allow ourselves to be uncomfortable as we journey through this, and so many of those little joy factors come in. You're sharing the dog stories I was reading through my journal and just seeing. Even like early last year, one of the things that I wanted to experience was not having to spend as much time on scripting and preparing for the conversations we came here with right and look, we're just here having these conversations now and they're not, you know, scripted and planned out as much. And it's been very powerful and we've gotten great feedback from that. So it sounds like a little thing, but I want you all to hear that we are sharing these little things because it's like that's the inspiration to go back and see those little wins are a big deal and they do catapult you into the future. Piece of it.
Speaker 1:We'd like to take a break from our show to invite you to learn more about our digital course, shift from Hustle. Are you tired of pushing to make things happen? Speaker 1:Now back to the show. Yeah, and I think, as you're looking to, you know, looking ahead and a lot of the new year is also like just keep showing up, like, how would the person I want to be say yes to this opportunity or say no? Would the person I want to be go and act in this certain way, or show up and serve, or whatever it may be? It's something to think about as you're constantly evolving and that comes from your reflecting on what worked well and you're like I want more of that. So I'm going to keep showing up like that as I move forward and these opportunities will come to you, and I think that that's what happened to us.
Speaker 1:We were talking about like, who do we, who's next to join us in our podcast? And we actually, in that same like, within that same week, we got invited to be a part of a podcast. And that's where you're just kind of like OK, now, how do I show up here? And it was scary and intimidating, but I was like, let's just show up and let's just figure that out, and we came as the people that we know who would show up, and that was. It was a really special experience for us. Johnna, do you want to talk a little bit more about that?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think it's great. It was really cool. Like she said, we really just said what do we want to magnetize in our life? We really love the opportunity that we've had with these thought leaders coming in and it's like we just want more of that and be able to have these conversations. And yeah, we got that invitation to be on the Outliers Edge podcast and just how the podcast host runs a lot of the it's like round table sort of thing and so we didn't know who we were coming in to have this conversation with, right and so talk about like getting comfortable with the uncomfortable.
Speaker 2:It's like okay, here we go Showing up as strangers, but there was so much incredible magic there and I think so much of it had to do with just being open to being a magnet for what it is that we're asking, without us having to figure out the how. You know. That was a powerful part and I think one of the really cool things there was that the audience of this podcast is, you know, high performers. They're creating, they're doing things, you know wanting to do it their own way in extraordinary ways, maybe similar to us, in like these crossroads of like what's my identity? Do I want to release that old way of doing things. You know all this kind of stuff, like you said, so I think that's really cool. But, yeah, we were really seeing, through everyone who was talking there, which you guys are going to get opportunity to listen to this at the end of January It'll be out, but we'll definitely share about that. But I think what you pointed to there, katie, was that whole theme was coming through of just being who. It is right, so it's like we can be who it is that we truly authentically desire, and then be able to set goals, of course, and have this inspired action and move that way.
Speaker 2:I think one of the really powerful things that another one of the guests with us shared was just like being able to lean into all these small evidences that we have and that's what you were just saying, katie. Like we do, you guys, like they're small, and sometimes we get hung up in like but I'm not there yet, or I have this big goal, and then dang it if we don't get to the goal, and then it's like we don't even feel that level of joy that we thought we were going to feel, because it's like now, what's next? And it just really put us in a really great place to stay connected, to wanting to enjoy the journey along the way, versus, you know, getting so hung up on how it has to look or how it has to, what the outcome is or what the destination is. So, yeah, it was so cool.
Speaker 2:I loved the experience and I think a part of it too that we can carry into real life is being open. Everybody, as listeners too, like being open to connection. You know we let's be honest we feel like we've lived a lifetime since the pandemic, but the pandemic put us in places where we weren't having connection, and so we're in a place now where we can really dive into what does connection mean to us individually and being a magnet to bringing that into our lives, for us to journey and have those relationships that we didn't even know we were going to have.
Speaker 1:So very powerful. Yeah, the connection piece. I want to. I want to expand on that for a minute, cause I think that was like, yeah, we connected with two other people that we had no idea and they, but they were thinking the same way and feeling the same way you were, whether or not it was like directly linear, but they were thinking the same way and feeling the same way you were, whether or not it was like directly linear. But it was the concept of that. They are the master of their life, of their experience. And I think to the connection piece.
Speaker 1:It's so easy to forget the importance of taking time for those connections and I know that it's it. We can't. That goes back to that hustle piece. Like we're so you know we've talked about good hustle and bad hustle and and I know, as I mentioned right now, it's like we're so heads down. But like I hadn't walked with my friend in weeks, like I hadn't seen her, and I was just like in such a mood this morning and as soon as we started walking, I realized like God, I just miss my friend. Like I see my kids all day. I don't really leave my house and, unless I'm doing some sort of activity, carpool, but I'm not connecting with friends and peers and and people who are thinking the same. And there's just something so fulfilling when you take that minute and I could have this morning.
Speaker 1:It was shuffling and I could have said no, but I realized it was so important to have that connection piece that I'm going to make this work. I just need to ask for what I need. And that's a huge piece too. It's like saying it out loud, so full circle. We were like who's going to join our podcast? We think it would be really beneficial, but it was not exactly how we thought we wanted it. But it worked out great. It was so great. So just saying that, because, to bring it back to our concepts of taking the next, opportunities are presented to us, whether or not it looks exactly like we wanted it to or not it's going to keep. Is it going to inch you closer to what you desire? And for me this morning it was like I need to connect with someone else. I need a break from walking with the dog. I need to just be alone in my body. So just keep looking for those opportunities.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I love that you said that, because I think that is a big piece of it for all of us as humans.
Speaker 2:One thing that we tapped into in that conversation, too, was talking about being worthy of being here and the possibilities right, and I think, as you talked about that with connection, that was really landing too was that we're worthy of that.
Speaker 2:We're worthy of those moments that don't feel, like you know, so productive or you know that we're getting something off the to-do list sort of thing.
Speaker 2:I know that's been something that I've worked through a lot and continue to observe in my own life. Is it's okay for it to just be something that is time spent with another human and whatever comes from that right will be very powerful, and I know it's easy to say that, but if you allow this and you continue to notice it in your life, you're going to start to actually see this ripple effect from it into those other things that maybe you are trying to tackle on your to-do list or trying to, you know, move forward with. I think it's going to maybe fuel those things more than we even realize. So, yeah, definitely making sure that we're noticing if our stories in our head are telling us that I don't have time for that, when you know that you really want it, because that's a place where we do want to take a pause and recognize that we're worthy of that desire that we have and to allow ourselves, like you said, ask for what you need.
Speaker 1:Thanks, shauna, that's so good and I mean I want to, I think, wrap up. Does that feel good? Okay, we hope that everyone could just feel how much we appreciate the opportunity to just be present with you and that this podcast affords us not only to bring you along on our journey but, as we explore expanding, but also to help empower you. And then we want to bring you along on our journey, but as we explore expanding, but also to help empower you. And then we want to invite you to continue to listen in, go back, dig into our episodes, send it to one person, like any episode that you feel like would really resonate with someone. But remember it's important to celebrate the now and the things that you are doing, especially when it's easy in our society to get so goal focused and forgetting to look back and see how far you've come, and that's we are really doing this now, and that's where you find the joy and you appreciate the wins more. And so, when we're looking to feel inspired in our podcast, I found this quote that I sent to Shauna, and it's from let's Lasso the Moon, and it just says to choose joy.
Speaker 1:Don't wait for things to get easier, simpler, better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now, otherwise you'll run out of time. We can't often choose our circumstances, but we can better that simple. You get to choose joy. So, as you wrap up your year, we want to send you so much love and gratitude for being here, and make sure to come join us on our Patreon community for the extra tools as you integrate the things that we're talking about throughout this whole year, and we can't wait to be back here with you in the near future. Be well, friends, take care.
Speaker 2:We want to welcome you, to tune in, stay close and grow with us. Come feel empowered, inspired and connected.
Speaker 1:Check the show notes to follow us and, of course, we'd love for you to tag us on social media and you share wetlands for you.
Speaker 2:Until next time, breathe on purpose, stay curious and trust your intuition.
