Welcome to it Gets To Be Easy Podcast where you're granted permission to live your most healthful and joy-filled life with ease.
Speaker 1:We are your hosts, katie and Shauna, and together we've been cracking the code to creating our own realities with ease, and now we've set out to help you grow confident in this too. Hi friends, welcome back to our show. So we've been talking a lot lately about how to tap more into our intuition and be led from a heart space instead of a head space. We thought it would be good to dig in a little deeper on this topic. We thought it would be good to dig in a little deeper on this topic, specifically with intuition. As we know, it takes some time and practice to get to know this voice sometimes, so we thought we'd pose a question and then chat about it today. Here we go how do we know if we're?
Speaker 2:hearing our intuition speaking, trying to lead us, or if fear or anxious feelings are doing the chattering. Okay, yes, friends, I am so excited about this show I've shared before that I do feel like I've been pretty in tune with my inner knowing for most of my lifetime, but to the point of sometimes I get these questions from people. They're like how do you know that? And I'm just like I don't know, I just know. And so there is this deep certainty when something is coming from that intuitive insight. But there are situations, of course, where I've been like wait, is that inner knowing or is like ego coming into the mix and, you know, kind of messing with the vibe a little bit here. And so, yeah, just like you said, I think it's so important for us to unpack this.
Speaker 2:Let's talk about it some more. You know, tap into getting clarity on like what is the difference between those voices? Right? And you know we talk a lot about shifting from hustle and sometimes I feel like that's like a trigger word for people, and so you know, really what we're talking about is just like moving away from our decisions that are coming from this place of like relentless effort, you know, doing all the things to like make something happen, and so, really, we're wanting to get clear on how we can tell you know what our intuition is actually, you know, whispering to us, and so it's really important because, truly, this grows our confidence in being able to choose from a place of trust and knowing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we've been working hard to observe our energies and when we lean hard into that, do it, get it done. Energy. We really want to make sure that we're reflecting on the why in those moments like what's pushing us into that space. And the most important thing that we've been talking about is we need to be sure that it aligns with our core values and not just driven from this place of hustle. And I feel like there is still a place for hustle, but the difference is it isn't driven by a scarcity in those moments anymore. Stick with me. We just talked about it in done is not the goal anymore. We have to ensure that we're checking in on those feelings.
Speaker 1:Hustle can come in this way, where we're usually referring to, it's driven from more of a place of working harder and pushing our limits. So when I say I feel like there's still a place for hustle, it comes from when we're working towards something that is heart-led. It could still require some heads down and hard work. I think of our podcast as something like that. The difference between these two types of hustles is that one is in support of my core values passion and the other is being driven by outside expectations and leaves no room for this rest and reflection. So I know that this might feel controversial, but I'll be honest. I believe there's still no substitute for a little grit sometimes.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you know, I really love that you went there. It totally makes sense, right, and I get what you're saying because, yeah, we've said this before, just because we're talking about shifting from hustle doesn't mean that we're not still working towards things. You just said this podcast lights us up. Yeah, it's work, but we're still really enthused to focus in and to do that, and so, yeah, we're working towards things that do require focus. But I think that nuance that you're saying here is what is so key and I hope you're hearing that listeners, because you know it is easy for us to slip into this overdriving when we have really old patterns of push, push, push, work, work, work, right, and so that's the part that we're trying to help, you see, as we're living it in the moment, for sure, and so keeping a pulse on like that rest while we're working is the optimal piece that we're kind of tapping into here, and honestly, I think intuition is so helpful there. I'll just add in something that might sound funny, but I think I'm starting to realize it and I think that some of you who have been in this hustle before I know my educator friends who I've worked with in the past will get this, like I've even been noticing where wait, I'm actually noticing that my body's telling me I need to get up and go to the bathroom, like I know that sounds wild, but when you are in work, work, work, work, work mode, you're ignoring those cues from the body. And so I've just been noticing that where it gives these little bit of pauses, when you're working towards something, where you're starting to tap in and listen to your body and that's the piece that we're talking about here today is like that's where intuition is helpful. And so you know, our intuition actually really does have a tone, it has a vibe in how it communicates with us. And so you know, intuition is calm. There's a certain energy about it, it's peaceful, it's really unquestioned and it actually doesn't get caught up in emotions really. So emotions kind of come as we start to make decisions, but that true intuitive knowing is it's not really tied up in emotions, it's really more neutral, and so it does feel, like I said earlier, just just knowing. And so you know the opposite of that.
Speaker 2:We've got this voice where we hear, like you said, katie, from scarcity is fear. It's egoic in nature, it's coming from our ego and, like we've said before, remember there's survival reasons. Fear exists for a reason. If you've got to get out of something fast, then you'll want that. You've got it right. But if you're wanting to create this more optimal situation, this joyful life that we talk about here, you're desiring to experience this for your highest good. And so fear isn't where we want to come from.
Speaker 2:Fear is what gets us into this frantic energy that starts stirring us. And so now here's the thing like we're not actually running from predators in most of our decision making right now, right. And so this is where, you know, ego starts to throw troubleshooting efforts at us. So maybe it's not actually telling us like we need to get out, but it's like troubleshooting. And then it starts to this is where all those what ifs come in. You know, we start second guessing ourselves, like that's where that voice sounds like and that's what's different from our intuition. And so, yeah, I think let's continue to talk about this more, because I think you'll start to notice how this is happening and then like what you can do about it. So let's talk about that.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So let's shift to like how do you know when we're in our heads versus in our hearts? And so for me, a telltale sign is when my agitation is high in a situation and like I've made these expectations on myself or others and my control in something is slipping. This is when I know I'm leading with my head. It's like a chain reaction that occurs. It's crazy, but sometimes I feel like it's this out-of-body experience because I know better. This is when we find that suffering that we've talked about. It's that familiar hell.
Speaker 1:So how I reset from these scenarios that I allow myself to release these expectations?
Speaker 1:I work to get back to my heart space and allowing and the ease of the flow, because the further we get from hustle, the more stark the contracts of these situations are for me and I immediately feel my shoulders tense, my breathing gets more shallow. I I realize this in myself and I can work to release, take a pause or walk away completely and come back. I will often do this with my kids because I'm just like I need to get out of here. But I see this in others too. So I can truly tell when others are in the flow. You can see the ease and how they carry themselves through a situation or, honestly, they really look like they have this like don't care attitude which previously I would have judged them for and honestly I probably still do sometimes. And but I'm working on that because it's one key way for me is I recognize when I've placed my expectations or standards of care on a situation but yet the situation is not mine to do that to. So that's how I can distinguish head and heart situations.
Speaker 2:Yes, oh gosh, I love that so much and I love that you pointed out the body messages that come with that awareness for you. So that's what we're trying to talk about today and support you with as you're listening in, because the more we can notice those body messages is really key. That's how we can tap in. Our bodies are so dang smart We've talked about this before they really do actually send us signals and it's just that sometimes we're not always the best detectives, and so that's where this practice comes in. You know, it really is a great opportunity for us to tap in here, get more in tune with, like, what those messages are. You know what's the body asking of us. You know you mentioned how you feel that in your shoulders, right and those, you know, tense muscles start happening and breathing starts get shallow right, like we're breathing in our chest a lot. I know like definitely I can relate to that. I know those are ones that are big physical signs for me too, and I think a lot of you listening in would be nodding your head yes, right now too. And you know, I know for me also sometimes that something I've noticed even more readily over the past couple of years is like this rock is sitting at the top of, like my solar plexus area. So if you're not familiar with that, it's, like you know, just a couple of finger spaces above your belly button, and actually this is where that saying, the gut feeling, comes from. Um, and so the solar plexus is actually associated with, like our feelings of being strong in our power, you know, having that sense of knowing and belonging that we're talking about coming from our intuition. But when something is off from that, then that's where we start to feel that physical piece of it. It's starting to feel like a knot, you know, and then that's what can kind of get us stuck in this loop of those heady decisions versus the heart decisions, and so it's not the soft, peaceful, all knowing that it typically is. That's why we're feeling that like tight and alerting or like even like anxiousness comes up from that. And I know, katie, you talked about noticing, like what helps you come back to your flow state when you're noticing those body messages. And so it's that pause. Again we talk about this right, that walk away, like, yeah, absolutely that pause strategy, you know, we come to, to it often on the show and I think I know for me, especially when the body messages are alarming, like I was just talking about, they have that more anxious edge, like dropping into breathing.
Speaker 2:I've talked about this a little bit before visualizing that more divine connection, that light that's coming in to help release the tension, can be very helpful. That light that's coming in to help release the tension can be very helpful and I know I've talked about tapping into that. It's something that really came into my practice more during my back injury. There was a lot that I needed to bring some more tools in for my healing during that time and so I'll drop some things in Patreon for this because I think if you're curious and you want to play around with like what does that even mean that I'm visualizing light coming into my body? So I'll do that because I think it's pretty empowering and it's a tool that you can link as you start to notice these body messages and want to grab some tools that you can kind of quickly make that shift.
Speaker 1:We'd like to take a break from our show to invite you to join our Patreon community. Speaker 1:So, listening through all of this and kind of forcing ourselves to recognize this part of ourselves, the body messages, when we're not going with our intuition or our flow, it can really honestly be a hard pill to swallow. That's just my experience, because leading from our heart is a lot more of that feminine that we've been talking about, and I know I'm seeking and we've both been talking about leaning more into this. But releasing the related anxiousness that comes from pushing in my masculine energy is what I'm trying to work towards. I feel more playful and free and that's so much more of a peaceful place to be, and that's when much more of a peaceful place to be and that's when I know it's like I'm definitely more in my intuition than in my go mode, as you would call it my masculine energy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and I love the honesty there around this hard pillow to swallow, because here's the thing like, if we don't admit that it is a challenge or it's hard, we're probably running from it.
Speaker 2:You know, we're probably just like, nope, that's not what I'm going to be doing now.
Speaker 2:And so it is important to say like, sometimes this does feel bumpy, it does feel hard or a challenge for us, and so I know we are going to have an exclusive episode.
Speaker 2:Actually, it's up in the queue for us to really share more about this harmonious relationship we've been starting to talk about between this, the feminine and masculine energies that you know we've been dancing with more and more in our own lives, and so we do want to make sure that we're sharing some of those specifics with you. So make sure you're following along in Patreon if you're wanting to really see how more of this is unfolding. I think it's a place that is vulnerable, and so we want to go share those real life stories in more detail and as we navigate and shift this and embrace that more feminine essence, like you said, with the intention that we're experiencing this renewed sense of self, we are really wanting to integrate this more into our lives and so getting to know our intuitive voice with more confidence is actually a part of this unfolding, and so that's why we're talking about this here today.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so let's bring up the conversation that we always mentioned. But it's another way to get to know your intuitive voice even more is through journaling, and so we said this a couple of episodes back. But journaling on paper is a proven method to really have this deeper connection, this relationship between the information in our hearts and our brains and putting it out into the world. So it allows us to truly let the thoughts and visions and dreams sink into subconscious, take up this space, and that's really where manifestation begins. So we've shared with each other. When we're preparing our notes for these chats, it's like, honestly, a lot of times you're like, wow, I didn't even know that was there or that I was feeling that way. Or you have these click moments and writing it out allows those heart whispers, those conversations, to really raise their voice and get louder and help you connect with them.
Speaker 2:Yeah, oh my gosh. You know we always giggle when we come back to journaling, but you all know and we were hearing from you actually I've been hearing some of you saying like I'm actually journaling more and I really am seeing the impact. So we won't stop talking about it, because we do know that it has a positive impact. It is very empowering when you kind of tap into that, and so I wanted to share too. I think that automatic writing is really actually a great approach to journaling when we're wanting to get, like this, deeper in touch with our intuitive self. And so I don't know if you've done this before, if you've heard it before, but this is like kind of where you're asking your higher self to actually guide the words that are coming out on the paper, like what you're writing out, and so you know you might have some specific questions in your mind or maybe a decision that you're writing out. And so you know you might have some specific questions in your mind or maybe a decision that you're trying to make, or just, like you said, katie, where manifestation comes from. So it's maybe where this desire you want to get clarity on is. You know whether it's like something that's just the next season of your life, or maybe it's in a relationship or a job or a project that you're working on, or even just like a vacation that you want to dream up, or you know a move. You want to make those kinds of things, whatever it is like any questions that are coming up like let those come up and the idea here with automatic writing is that you're bypassing that inner critic, right. So that's that ego piece. We're kind of bypassing that, we're letting the thoughts flow freely on the page without judging them. You kind of want to make sure that you get yourself ready for this too. I should say that make sure you are in a quiet space that have a place for this. You might want to do some breathing or a little meditation beforehand to really get you into that vibe, that real connection with your intuitive self, and then just lead with a question. Or maybe it's just a word.
Speaker 2:Sometimes I've just written a word at the top of my journal. I know some things are expanding in my world and I I've been thinking about like the spiritual coaching side of things, and that's just something I did recently. I just wrote the word spiritual coaching and let some things come out Right, and so even just a keyword can help you there and then allow yourself to write any and everything that comes up. So it might feel unrelated, it might feel funny, kind of nonsensical, but let it definitely come up. Just follow that stream wherever it leads you and try not to interrupt and go back and read while you're doing it.
Speaker 2:That's the key there, because that's where, when we go back and read, we start judging, we start putting stop signs up and all kinds of things. You know stop signs up and all kinds of things. And so you know, honestly, in practicing this way I think that you would feel this too You'll probably start to uncover some insights. You know, maybe some emotions will come up with it. You know you might see some patterns that you just haven't been tapping into, haven't been consciously aware of, and so if you're new to this, like yeah, it's going to feel fumbly, Like most of the things we share when they're new, right, and it's totally okay, like let's just make sure we're not judging it. Um, and honestly, it does improve over time with practice. And you know, with these things, when we talk about journaling, it's really about committing to it. You know, just starting and you'll start to feel more connective and tuned into your intuitive self through that practice.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and speaking of not judging, I know it's like we wanted to kind of talk a little bit more about that and how it relates to getting to know our intuitive voice more, and so when we think about leading from our hearts more, it can be surprising what you find yourself drawn to or how we show up. And I think what's really important here is just, shauna, just like you said, is trusting that what's flowing out into the paper. It's just, it's part of who you are's where you're being led and it might totally surprise you. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to do it like you have to take this action in this way if you don't still feel inspired by it, and so it's judging what comes out on paper, judging that what you feel drawn to can feel easy to do. And and I think you know, going back to other things that we've related in these conversations, like you know, I think about drinking, like judging myself for being like am I just being a party pooper or like I'm just right?
Speaker 1:Now my husband started drinking coffee again and I'm just like, am I being too hard on myself? Like should I just relax and go, or am I being too hard on him because now I'm mad because I feel like I'm on this island by myself. It's so many different things, but my intuition in this space keeps saying coffee's not for you and I can let him be drawn to what he needs or what someone else is doing. It's so important to remember. It's just like you are being called to these next right steps for a reason and it might not make sense. So if you're open to receiving that, then it's going to be okay. It's going to flow the way you need it to.
Speaker 2:Wow, yeah, I love that and I love that share too. Some of you may have been trying things in your life and can feel that, but I don't know if you noticed in Katie's tone when she just said that what she said about coffee in her body was very matter of fact and was very knowing. Right, there wasn't, I mean, it was like a statement that was just so spot on. And so that is that sign, like that's coming from intuition. It truly is this neutral, like yep, that is it. And so I felt that, as you were saying that, and so I hope your listeners are noticing that nuance in yourself when you're starting to ask these questions, because, yeah, of course we're going to question a little bit like, hey, I kind of liked that, was that something I want to, you know? But ask the questions and you'll start to feel that and, yeah, that judgment piece is a big deal and it's one that we're, you know, working through in many different ways as we've been talking over, you know, the past few months on the episodes that we've been chatting, and you know the judgment piece really does go back to that frantic fear loop. You know we start thinking about the should I want that Am I supposed to do? That, you know. But you know what are they going to think if I do this, right, like, some of those things come through as we make decisions, like stepping away from drinking, right, is someone going to think something about me Like, am I a party pooper? Right, those things are going through your head. But anyway, just like that, you know, we get disconnected from our intuitive knowing when we get into those loops, right, and so that's the thing I was just telling Katie, as we were coming on to share today that I was doing this meditation, and the gal on there was, like, if you start to notice you're judging yourself, just say like, oh, I noticed that, and so that's really what we're encouraging here is like it's okay, like we're human judgment's going to come up, but just that's the practice here, as we're evolving and growing, I mean wanting to feel more empowered and connected to our intuitive self is just noticing it. So, yeah, oh my gosh. You know I said at the beginning of this conversation today like I was so excited for this chat and I really do feel so pumped up about it still, like I love where this went today. I love how it's continuing to unfold and, bridging with some of the other things we've been talking about, so many great reminders for ourselves personally.
Speaker 2:As we talk about these things, of course, we listen back. We were just saying that to each other this week about our episode that dropped today. It's like there it is. That was for our future selves, things that were going on in our lives this week, right, and so we trust that something that you've heard here today also lands for you. We encourage you just get curious about it, try to listen in, see what that intuitive voice sounds like more, get in tune with her tone.
Speaker 2:What body messages do you notice when you're disconnected from your intuitive self? And then what do you need to reel yourself back in? Do you need to check your breathing, your heartbeat, those muscles? What does it look like for you? What can you set up, like we were talking about, to help you tap inward when those signals do start coming through? And, of course, like we have said, you know, don't miss popping over into Patreon. We've set up that community very intentionally to make sure that there are extra tools, resources, things that we're trying playing with. We've created a lot there for you. We want this to be something that you can take, integrate and use in your life when you're not just listening in on your commute or wherever you're tuning in. So remember your intuitive voice is a gift within you to help you live that most healthful and joy-filled journey. Your intuition's calm, peaceful certainty is there to steady you along the way. We want to welcome you to tune in, stay close and grow with us. Come feel empowered, inspired and connected.
Speaker 1:Check the show notes to follow us and, of course, we'd love for you to take us on social media and you share what lands for you.
Speaker 2:Until next time, breathe on purpose, stay curious and trust your intuition.
